Broome Map: 2026 map you need to plan your trip
When we first started planning our time in Broome, Western Australia, we quickly realised something… Everything looks close on paper. That’s exactly why we created this Broome Map. Because in reality, everything is more spread out than we initially thought, and on top of that, it’s tide-dependent.
Broome is not just a town with a few attractions. It’s a destination where timing, location and planning all come together. If you don’t think about it up front, you’ll spend more time driving and figuring things out than actually enjoying it.
This is a practical Broome map based on actually exploring the area ourselves. It includes the places that we believe are worth your time, the ones that surprised us and the spots that help you plan your days without wasting time driving back and forth.
➤ If you are planning a trip to Broome, start with our Broome Travel Guide and use this Broome map to go further into detail.
What this Broome map includes
We created this Broome map to be simple to use, but detailed enough to plan your entire trip. You’ll find:
- The best things to do in Broome
- Beaches and sunset spots
- Epic camping spots and caravan parks
- Food, breweries and coffee spots
Instead of jumping between Google searches, this Broome map gives you everything in one place for an unforgettable time in Broome.
What we also did (and this is probably why you’re reading this) is filter it. There are always more places you could go, but not everything is worth your time, especially if you only have a few days. This Broome map is based on what we personally loved and would recommend to a friend planning the same trip.
Broome Map: Where to stay, eat and things to do
Where to stay in Broome
This Broome map gives you a clear overview of places to stay in and around Broome. And this is something we spent a bit of time figuring out ourselves as we tried to book into Cable Beach, only to find everything was booked out. Turns out, there are plenty of options for different camping experiences, depending on the camping vibe you’re after.
If you know when you’re going and you’re ahead of time, booking into Cable Beach is a great idea. It feels like a holiday destination. Palm trees, tropical vibe, close to the beach and restaurants. We didn’t camp in town itself but chose to camp just outside town at Broome’s Gateway Pet-Friendly Caravan Park.

Where to Eat
This Broome map covers the places we tried and genuinely enjoyed for coffee, breakfast, dinner or drinks.
We have a bit of a weakness when it comes to food while travelling through a town. We always try to keep it simple, but somehow we end up trying everything. But that also means we’ve done the testing for you.
Our favourites are:
- Johnny Sausage for a fancy date night dinner
- The Green Mango for healthy juices, coffee and breakfast
- Zookeepers for coffee and what might be the best cinnamon scrolls we ever had
- Spinifex Brewery for beers and pizza
- Mr Saigon for a fresh and easy Vietnamese lunch
- Cable Beach House for sunset drinks and nibbles
We did notice that Broome gets busy in peak season. If you really want to try places like Johnny Sausage, it’s better to book a table so you don’t miss out.

Things to do
You’ll find the best beaches, activities and experiences in this Broome map. And again, we filtered it. There’s always more to explore, but this is what we personally think are the best things to do if you want a great overall Broome experience.
Our favourites are:
- Driving onto Gantheaume Beach for a relaxed beach day
- Simpson Beach for those unreal colours and ocean views
- Cable Beach sunset with camels (yes, it’s touristy, but have you been to Broome if you don’t have this shot??)
- Wandering through Chinatown and the pearl shops
- Floating at Coconut Wells
- Visiting Horizontal Falls from Cygnet Bay
- Free camping at James Price Point
Coconut Wells was something we didn’t fully understand until we were there. Walking out at low tide and floating back in with the incoming tide. It’s simple, and one of those experiences that stick with you.

Day tours
If you’re looking to add tours to your Broome trip, there are a few options. It can get a bit overwhelming.
We found it helpful to reach out or visit Broome’s visitor centre to help you find the tours that suit you best.
Examples of tours that depart from Broome are:
- Cultural tours
- Boat tours
- Day trips
- Camel rides
- Scenic flights
- Fishing tours
- Stargazing
- Sunset tours
- Whale watching tours
The standout experience for us was definitely Horizontal Falls. It’s one of those bucket-list items, and if it fits your budget, do it.

How to use this Broome Map
The most common mistake we noticed among people (and we were guilty of it too) is underestimating distances and tides. So here are a few tips on how we’d recommend using this Broome map:
Group locations by area
The main tip: don’t try to tock off everything in one day. Use this Broome map to group nearby locations together, for example:
- Chinatown, pearl shops, museum, sun pictures, Simpson Beach and Town Beach
- Cable Beach, Spinifex Brewery and Gantheaume Point
- Dampier Peninsula locations
Pan around the tides
This is a very important, yet often forgotten, tip when using this Broome map. The tides in Broome are extreme, and they completely change beach access, how certain locations look and 4WD access. The places that are tide dependant and are only worth visiting at specific times:
- Gantheaume Point: Best at low tide
- Simpson Beach: Best at high tide
- Coconut Wells: Only works on an incoming tide
➤ Read more details about tides and access in our Broome Beaches guide.
Use this Broome map to guide your trip
If there’s one thing to take away, it’s this: our map is here to make your trip easier, not busier.
It helps you see what’s actually worth visiting, plan your days more efficiently, and avoid unnecessary driving.
