How to choose a roadtrip?

Choosing the right roadtrip comes down to two things: Time & Season.

Time

Be realistic about how long you have. Distances in Australia are bigger than most people expect, and rushing a trip will take you away from the experience. If you only have 1 week, stick to a shorter route. If you have two to three weeks, you can start exploring more remote regions properly.

Season

Season matters more than anything. Some of the best 4WD routes in Australia (especially in the north) are completely inaccessible during the wet season. Others are at their best during cooler months.
